Draw Back Your Curtains and Make Room for the View

There’s something lovely about drawing back your curtains in the morning. Whether you’re welcoming the sunshine, enjoying a garden outlook or opening up the room, the way your curtains sit when they’re open deserves just as much thought as how they look closed.

At MG Curtains and Blinds, our first consideration is space. Where will the fabric go when you draw your curtains back? How much glass can we leave clear? These details help us make the most of your view and natural light.

For a symmetrical window, splitting the curtains so they stack back equally on either side can create a beautifully balanced finish. For an off centre window, drawing the curtains to one side may work better with the available wall space and the layout of your room.

Your choice of fabric and lining also makes a difference. We use options such as Simplicity, a silicone based blockout liner that stacks back into very little space. It’s a lovely solution when you want light control without a bulky curtain stack.

S fold curtains are another favourite for the way they draw back neatly. Their flowing curves create a soft, consistent look, and with regular use and careful dressing, those folds become more established. Over around six months, you may notice that distinctive S shape becoming more prominent, helping the curtains settle into their natural rhythm.

If you’re building or renovating and considering automated curtains, it’s worth having the conversation early. A custom made curtain pocket can provide space for the track and gathered fabric, creating a beautifully considered finish.

The best curtain design starts with understanding your windows, your space and how you live. Let’s talk about making room for your view.
